Marcus
Hi I’m Marcus. Tell me your first name and then your company?
Isaac
Isaac and it's Flyer.io
Marcus
Okay, so what is Flyer.io?
Isaac
It’s GoogleDocs for real estate. A really simple way for people to create flyers online.
Marcus
Okay, so can you kind of give us a little quick demo?
Isaac
Yeah. Definitely. Over here -- I can show you over here. It’s a real easy way…We should probably get started over here. Real Estate agents go directly there. They type in all the information; drop the images, like over here, a beautiful template, type the information, drop it, we position them and for example, we’re going to show an example over here with a panoramic image, if they drop a panoramic image, it will use a distributed .dpi. It’s a different way to actually navigate through the property. And if you flip it, it goes into automatic mode, so as you move the device, you navigate through the property. Now imagine, you are walking down the street and you see a really cool office. Bring your phone, do the QR and you’re inside, in there, you don’t have to call them or wait for an open house. You are actually navigating the property. It’s for free.
Marcus
Wow. How long have you guys been around?
Isaac
I started about a year ago and JP joined me six months ago.
Marcus
Is it just the two of you?
Isaac
Yeah. It is just the two of us.
Marcus
Okay, and so you are the founder, right?
Isaac
Yes.
Marcus
And what’s your role JP?
JP
I'm the CTO. I'm the Developer
Marcus
You’re the Developer? So you make the magic?
JP
He’s also a developer. We both…
Marcus
Who isn’t down here, right?
JP
Yeah, we both do both.
Marcus
And so you started about a year ago?
Isaac
Yes.
Marcus
And what’s your background?
Isaac
I worked in real estate for seven years.
Marcus
Okay.
Isaac
So, I was taking care of marketing for some big agencies along the border and. .
JP
Yeah, I’m a Software Engineer.
Marcus
Okay. And what are you guys hoping to accomplish by being at Launch Conference this year?
Isaac
Definitely we want to—we’re going to be presenting tomorrow on stage.
Marcus
Are you?
Isaac
Yeah. The idea is to start around. So, we start talking to investors and talking to other really interesting companies and start networking, basically.
Marcus
Cool. So if Flyer.io was a superhero, what would its super power be?
Isaac
Oh my God! Scaleable?
JP
I would go with like sex appeal.
Marcus
Sex appeal?
Isaac
Sexy..bringing sexy on in a really un-sexy industry.
Marcus
Like Wonder Woman
Isaac
Yeah.
JP
Under-served market. Especially commercial is a really under-served market and the professionals there have not been given the tools that other markets have. And so we really want to kind of bring it up to the times, you know what I mean? And so we are really excited about that. We are already kind of putting a dent with our private beta testers and they love it and we’ve been getting the best feedback ever and we’re excited about tomorrow; open up the floodgates hopefully and get some people on the app and get it going.
Marcus
When are you hoping to launch?
Isaac
Probably in the next month. We are already launched, but on private beta, so you can request an invite and we’re rolling little by little.
Marcus
Okay. If things go great, what’s it look like in six months?
Isaac
Oh my God. The idea is to actually expand to be like the GoogleDocs for real estate. So the idea is to start with the flyer, it’s the core, it’s amazing, it’s a $500 billion industry and the flyer is the most used document in the world. It doesn’t matter if it’s China, Miami, anywhere, so we start with the flyer then scale it into different products. It makes sense, then connect between them.
Marcus
So then, I didn’t get this maybe before, the flyer, is that like the flyer that sits outside of a house that’s for sale, kind of thing?
Isaac
Yes. Exactly.
JP
So we have not only the digital representation of a hyper-popular document, but it’s made to be printed out and used just like they would have been doing before anyway. So, the content creation in a very easy way. They previously may have been using their own in-house marketing guy. Or, we hear the story of small agencies of maybe like 5 or 10 people they have like their little cousin, he’s in high school, he’s really good at Photoshop and he’s their marketing department. That’s awful. That’s not going to work. We’re going to make you the best looking flyer, it’s going to be easy, and you can’t go wrong. That’s the idea.
Marcus
How do you guys intend to get in front of your potential customers?
Isaac
Like our distribution, the idea is to start using the beta testing, and they will spread it on Twitter, on Facebook and all this and it will be like, some people will start questioning about this, like how did they build this? And they will start going to the website and learning more about that.
Marcus
Nice. What’s your tech stack?
JP
Okay, well, we have a lot of things going on. So, the main core app is a Rails App. We’re using PostChris, We pulled in Horoku, we use Rettice, Rettice To Go, We have two Sinatra apps that we use as proxying and chat event loop servers, we have a pretty large stack. We are kind of managing a bunch of different technologies.
Marcus
And it’s all HTML5?
JP
Yeah. The front end is all in the browser – there is no iPhone app. You can actually author a flyer right on your device though; you don’t need to have a native app. We use the HTML5 image uploading, drag and drops – the back end, which also works on IOS so you can tap to take a photo. So a real estate agent might go to a property and create a whole piece of content right there, publish it and share it and they’re done; their listing is online. They can go back and keep doing the networking, the things that they are good at, right?
Marcus
Right. Well, guys, it sounds amazing. Any last things you want our viewers to know about Flyer?
Isaac
Oh. You can go to Flyer.io and request an invite and we’re excited to see what people build.
Marcus
Excellent. Thank you very much.
Isaac
Thank you very much.
