We’re here with Brian from GreenGoose and Brian, tell us about what you’re doing this year. You’re back at Launch Conference, what’s going on?
Brian
Absolutely, we’re back. We’ve been here—two years ago, actually, with some little wireless sticker sensors that went on things like medicine bottles and toothbrushes and that kind of thing and we just weren’t able to find a product market fit, so but what we did learn though is that kids love toys and they love playing with apps on iPhones and, you know, smart mobile devices, and so we’re doing exactly that. We’re creating magical toys now that talk to—plush toys that talk to iPhones and iPads.
Marcus
Can you give us a quick demo?
Brian
Absolutely! So here’s a demo of a plush toy called Teddo. Teddo the Bear. I’m going to go ahead and turn him on and inside of Teddo here, we’ve got an accelerometer and a gyroscope as well as an RFID Reader and I’m going to demonstrate Teddo here talking to an iPad app called Teddo’s Dream and so he’s connecting here, give him a second and so now, I’m going to choose New Player, and can you see this?
Marcus
Uh-huh.
Brian
We’re actually going to make Teddo turn into----
Marcus
I’ll hold that.
Brian
Can you hold that?
Marcus
Yeah.
Brian
So watch this, I put on the girl clothes, all of a sudden Teddo becomes a girl wearing a dress. So it’s kind of an interesting business model to sell different apps and accessories. But here’s the real fun is that interacting with Teddo, by jumping with him up and down, he gets to explore different scenes. And where Teddo’s in a dream and kids are interacting with Teddo to do different things. Let’s try another scene here as well, so Teddo can be a hot air balloon, for instance, and go up and down, and oh! He just got popped by the bees, but—so what we’re doing here is providing kids with a way to play with physical toys again, to become active. And, these kinds of toys are timeless and so we’re really excited about the opportunity to bring real toys to life again.
Marcus
Interesting. How long has GreenGoose been around?
Brian
We’ve been around for about—oh goodness, maybe three years? Two to three years.
Marcus
Okay.
Brian
And we’ve taken different incarnations. Like at first we started off with energy, then we moved into those little sticker sensors that were all about gamification of healthy behaviors, and that’s really hard to do. Because people just don’t necessarily like to get exercise, or do things they don’t like to do, so, that was the challenge. And now we’re doing everything with—it’s just about pure joy and delight.
Marcus
And when did this launch?
Brian
This is launching just today.
Marcus
Oh, okay.
Brian
This is brand new. We’ve got the site up. Teddo here is $19.95; he’s available today at the GreenGoose.com website.
Marcus
If Teddo was a Super Hero, what would Teddo’s super power be?
Brian
Well, I think it's magic.
Marcus
Magic!
Brian
Right, so, Teddo here can cast spells, and he can—actually, he’s able to create that magic all in his sleep, so he’s got sleeping, magical capabilities.
Marcus
Very interesting. Well, thank you very much, Brian.
Brian
You’re absolutely welcome. Nice talking to you.
